Environmental labels
One of the easiest ways to ensure that a piece of furniture such as a coffee table or shelf is sustainable is to choose a piece of furniture that has an environmental label, such as the Nordic Ecolabel, as the labels typically require: durability, that the materials, for example, originate from sustainable forestry, that the furniture meets the minimum requirements for a healthy indoor climate, contains recycled materials, etc. All Ideal's furniture is made from recycled or surplus materials.
There are a number of public environmental labels such as the Swan and the EU flower or private labels such as Cradle to Cradle. There are also brands that focus on environmentally and climate-friendly materials, such as labels for sustainable wood such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC, or sustainable cotton such as Økotex and GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or sustainable wool such as RWS (Responsible Wool Standard).
